Use a duct connector to join a straight run and a reducer when the sizes differ. Check both ends of a reducer, such as 160–200 mm. A duct flange creates a suitable connection; the mounting plate and duct diameter describe different dimensions.
A metal duct elbow changes the direction of one run. Tees and Y-pieces add a branch. Choose by available space and airflow direction. Two outlets do not automatically share airflow equally: the length, diameter and resistance of both branches still matter.
Record the connection sizes of your fan, filter and ducting. Then decide where the route continues straight, changes direction or branches. This prevents choosing a convenient shape that does not fit the existing connection.
A connector joins components. A reducer connects different diameters. A flange provides a connection on a suitable surface or appliance. Use an elbow to change direction and compare a tee with a Y-piece when adding a branch.
Check the connection type as well as its size. Connectors intended for flexible ducting and those intended for another fitting can share a size name while serving different joints. Our duct diameter and fit guide explains the checks.

Match flanges, connectors and reducers by function and fit. Check both ends and avoid assuming that 125 mm and 127 mm are interchangeable.

Compare right-angle and angled branches. Choose a tee or Y-piece by the duct route, and understand why two outlets do not guarantee equal airflow.

Fit flexible ducting without distorting the connection. Choose the correct clamp range and treat fixing, sealing and support as separate tasks.
