Start with the connection size of your existing duct. Our Spiro elbow range has seven diameters: 127, 160, 200, 250, 315, 356 and 406 mm. Use the diameter filter to find the size you need. Choosing a larger elbow without adapting the surrounding ductwork will not create a matching connection.
Take particular care with similar sizes. 127 mm and 125 mm are different diameters. Measure the connection and establish whether the duct slides over the elbow or needs a connector. Matching nominal diameters still require the correct fit.
Joining different sizes? Browse our ventilation duct reducers. For straight joints, see our duct connectors. Our guide to duct diameter and fit explains how to check each connection.

Work out the duct route and the available space beside your tent, filter or extractor first. A metal elbow holds a fixed shape. Check the required angle and installation space before ordering; diameter alone does not establish whether an elbow fits your layout.
Keep the route straightforward and avoid squeezing any connected flexible ducting. Support the duct so its weight does not hang entirely from one joint. The fan and filter need their own mounting.
Choose ventilation ducting with a suitable connection size and check both ends of the elbow. Use a duct clamp with the correct adjustment range. A clamp cannot compensate for the wrong diameter or connector type.
Secure the joint and seal it with material suitable for your ductwork. After installation, check for loose parts and air leaks. Our guide to duct clamps and sealing covers the fitting sequence.

Match flanges, connectors and reducers by function and fit. Check both ends and avoid assuming that 125 mm and 127 mm are interchangeable.

Compare right-angle and angled branches. Choose a tee or Y-piece by the duct route, and understand why two outlets do not guarantee equal airflow.
