Which soil improver suits your growing medium?

A soil improver is added to your soil. First check whether the potting soil is already fertilised. Supermix, Bat Guano and Worm Delight each have their own composition. Choose a suitable amendment and include it in your overall feeding plan. For a ready-to-use base medium, explore our potting soil.

Start with your potting soil and your goal

Need a blended amendment for peat-based media? Choose Supermix. It combines minerals and trace elements with worm castings and seabird guano. Use it when preparing or enriching a suitable soil mix.

Want to add nutrients with guano? Bat Guano contains bat manure, seabird guano and vinasse extract. It is a fertiliser for targeted addition to soil. First assess the nutrients already in your potting soil and any other feeding you use.

Looking for worm castings? Worm Delight is Atami’s worm castings product. Mix it into soil as an organic amendment. Its 20 litre bag differs in volume and composition from the 10 litre buckets. Compare products by what you need them to do as well as pack size.

Mixing and dosing: litres and kilograms differ

Measure the volume of potting soil before mixing an amendment. The potting soil dose for Supermix is 25–50 litres per 1,000 litres of soil, equivalent to 2.5–5 litres per 100 litres. Choose the amount to suit your starting mix and distribute the amendment evenly.

Bat Guano is dosed by weight for potting soil: 10 kg per 1,000 litres of soil. The bucket holds 10 litres; this does not state its weight. Weigh the dose and follow the label on your pack. We do not specify a fixed mixing percentage for Worm Delight without clear instructions for your application.

Pre-fertilised soil and reuse

Fresh Plagron Allmix, Royalmix and Batmix are already fertilised. Extra Supermix is unnecessary for the first grow in these media. Avoid automatically adding several soil improvers alongside a full feeding programme.

Reusing soil? Assess its condition first: remove old root debris, check structure and drainage, and account for nutrients left in the medium. An amendment will not restore poorly draining or unhealthy soil. Match watering and feeding to the plant and the new mix.
