Hydroponics supplies nutrients through water. This selection contains loose growing media for pots and containers: Cultilene Mapito and Agra-Wool RFX-1. Looking for shaped plugs or starter blocks? Browse rockwool growing media or rockwool starter cubes. Choose your medium before setting up irrigation and feeding.
Cultilene Mapito: one 80-litre bag of rockwool flakes. Choose this option if you want to order a single bag. Distribute the loose medium into your pots or containers and choose the quantity from the fill volume of your setup.
Agra-Wool RFX-1: a 240-litre box containing three 80-litre bags. RFX-1 combines 2 × 2 × 2 cm Earthwool pieces with foam flakes. Separate bags let you divide your stock by bag.
Match the medium to your pots, drainage and growing method. For shaped propagation media, starter cubes with planting holes serve a different purpose from a loose mix. We can help you match the stages of your setup.

Calculate how much medium you need from the actual fill volume of your plant pots or containers. Add the volumes and allow room for the plant and watering. Litres of medium do not correspond to a fixed number of plants or a growing area.
Loosen RFX-1 before filling, avoid compressing it and wet it when inserting the plants. Prepare Cultilene using the instructions for that product; an RFX-1 preparation method is not a universal recipe for every Mapito mix.
Check the output of your drippers and allow excess water to drain. Check moisture and adjust watering to the crop, root development and conditions. Do not assume one timer setting will suit all pots.
Choose nutrients for the medium and for a drain-to-waste or recirculating system. Check the mixed solution with a pH meter and EC meter. Read what pH and EC tell you and keep your nutrient tank clean. Check pump capacity and connections separately when choosing a water pump.
