Thermo-hygrometers

Measure temperature and relative humidity in your grow tent or grow room. Choose a digital thermo-hygrometer for direct readings, a model with an external probe or suitable DimLux sensors for your controller. We help you distinguish air temperature, relative humidity and plant temperature.

A complete meter or a sensor for your controller?

Want to read values directly? Choose a complete thermo-hygrometer with a display. The Fertraso digital thermo-hygrometer displays temperature and relative humidity. The Fertraso thermo-hygrometer with an external probe also has a cabled probe. An external probe does not automatically mean that humidity is measured away from the instrument. Check which remote measurement you need before choosing.

Expanding an existing DimLux setup? Separate temperature and RH sensors and analogue plant temperature cameras have no reading display of their own. They supply different measurements to a suitable controller. Check the exact controller model, sensor version and connection before ordering. A separate sensor does not replace a complete thermo-hygrometer.

Choose the measurement you need before choosing the instrument. A meter with a display suits basic checks of air temperature and humidity. For readings within your control system, choose the matching sensor. We help you check which combination suits your equipment.

Measure air temperature and relative humidity

Temperature is displayed in °C; relative humidity, often called RH, is displayed as a percentage. Consider the readings together: when air temperature changes, relative humidity can change without the same amount of moisture being added or removed.

In a suitable DimLux setup, the temperature sensor with a 5 m cable measures the air. The RH sensor comes with a 5 m cable or a 10 m cable. Cable length determines where you can place it; a longer cable does not prove greater accuracy. Plan the actual cable route and leave enough room for proper placement.

Plant temperature is a different measurement

An air thermometer does not automatically tell you the temperature of a leaf. The DimLux analogue plant temperature camera measures the surface it points at. Choose a 5 m cable or a 10 m cable. Aim the camera at the crop rather than the pot or wall.

A DimLux VPD setup combines air temperature, RH and plant temperature readings. A camera alone is not a complete VPD set, and an RH sensor is not a CO₂ meter. Read our guide to DimLux sensors and plant temperature and check the functions your controller supports.

Where should you place a thermo-hygrometer?

Choose a representative measurement point near the crop. Keep an air sensor out of direct lamp radiation, use suitable radiation shielding and avoid a direct stream from a fan, heater or humidifier. Leave space around it; a warm wall can affect the reading.

Let the meter stabilise after moving it. Record readings with lights on and off and compare measurements at the same location. If a reading looks unusual, check placement, power and cables first. Our guide to temperature probes and climate controller settings explains the next steps.

Use readings to make targeted adjustments

A thermo-hygrometer measures conditions. It does not automatically switch extraction or humidification. For automatic control, choose a climate controller with the required measurement function and a suitable connection for your equipment.

Do not use one fixed humidity target for every crop. Plant type, growth stage and temperature all affect suitable conditions. Change one setting at a time and assess the response so you can see which adjustment made a difference.
