Cocos Premium: ready-to-use coco in a 50 litre bag

This category offers Plagron Cocos Premium 50 L. There are no compressed blocks to expand before use. To explore other coco products, browse our full coco coir range.

Choose coco when you want to manage feeding

Cocos Premium contains buffered coco pith and coconut fibres. It is already washed and buffered, so you can put it straight into the pot. A new bag does not need rinsing or buffering again.

This medium contains no fertiliser. Supply a suitable nutrient solution from the first day. Plagron Cocos A&B is a base feed for buffered coco during growth and flowering. Browse our Plagron plant nutrients to build a suitable feeding programme.

Prefer a peat mix with a light starter feed? Explore Plagron Lightmix potting soil. A soil feeding programme should be adapted before using it with coco.

50 litre bag of Plagron Cocos Premium

What does Cocos Premium contain?

The bag offered here contains 50 litres of unfertilised coco substrate. Cocos Premium carries RHP certification. Its base is buffered coco pith and coconut fibres; this is not a 70/30 blend with perlite.

The current substrate specifications are pH 5.8–6.8 and EC < 0.2 mS/cm, both measured using the 1:1.5 method. These are properties of the medium, rather than targets for nutrient water. Measure and dose your nutrient solution separately.

How many 50 litre bags do you need?

Add up the litres you actually intend to fill with fresh growing medium, then divide by 50. Six empty pots filled with 7 litres of coco each, for example, require 42 litres. When repotting, the existing root ball occupies space, so pot capacity differs from the fresh coco needed.

Choose plant pots in suitable sizes with good drainage. Calculate the quantity before ordering and fill without firmly compacting the medium.

Mix nutrients and check watering

Fill your reservoir with water first. Add Cocos A and stir, then add the same amount of Cocos B and stir again. Do not mix the concentrates directly together. Adjust the dose to growth stage, source water and feeding schedule.

Check the mixed solution with a pH meter and an EC meter. Read what pH and EC mean for plant feeding. There is no fixed water dose for every pot: check moisture and drainage and adjust to conditions. Using drip irrigation? Measure the flow at each outlet before setting a timer.
