Plastic plant pots

Choose plastic plant pots by capacity and external dimensions. Our Fertraso range includes six square pots from 3.5 to 25 litres and a round 15 litre pot. We help you match the shape and size to your root ball, available space and drainage.

Start with the root ball and available space

A pot needs room for the root ball and must fit your growing area. Measure the available width, length and height first. Allow space for a collection tray and access for watering. For smaller propagation pots or peat pots, browse all our plant pots.

Square or round: choose for your layout

Square plastic pots: choose from 3.5, 6.5, 7, 14, 18 and 25 litres. Straight sides make them easy to arrange in rows. Allow room for the plant and access as well as the pot itself; pot dimensions do not determine a fixed number of plants per square metre.

A round pot: the 15 litre version offers a separate choice in this range. Compare capacity and shape. The table covers the six square pots; the round pot is a different model.

Match capacity to the root ball: allow room for growing on without putting a small plant straight into an excessively large volume of compost. Check root development and moisture before moving to the next size.

6.5 and 7 litres: two different pot sizes

The 6.5 litre pot measures 19.4 × 19.4 × 24.2 cm. The 7 litre pot measures 20 × 20 × 25 cm. They differ in both capacity and external dimensions. Check both when fitting pots into an existing tray or onto shelving. Use the exact dimensions in the table; a rounded height or width filter is less precise. For a tight fit in an existing tray, ask us to confirm the current external dimensions before ordering.

Drainage, growing medium and reuse

Keep drainage openings clear and avoid leaving pots in collected water for long periods. Choose a tray for the pot dimensions and your watering arrangement. Fill with a suitable growing medium, such as grow soil or coco coir, then match feeding and watering to it.

A 7 litre pot does not require a fixed watering volume. Assess moisture, the root ball and growing conditions. To reuse an intact plastic pot, remove old roots and growing medium, clear the drainage openings and clean it before planting again.
