Which HPS fixture suits your growing space?
Start with the growing area, usable height and heat removal. Allow room for the fixture, hanging hardware and clearance above the plants. More watts do not guarantee better distribution. Assess light at the edges and where several fixtures overlap too.
In the 600/750W group, compare the Gavita Pro 6/750e DE FLEX with the DimLux Expert MKII 600/750W EL UHF DXO. The Gavita uses a double-ended bulb; the DimLux has its own EL UHF DXO version. Similar power labels do not make their bulbs or control settings interchangeable.
For the 1000W group, explore the Gavita PRO e1000W DE, DimLux Expert Series 1000W DE and DimLux PRO 1000W Smart IEC. Assess the complete version: bulb, reflector, connections and intended controls. Let your space and installation determine the choice.
Building a new lighting setup
A complete fixture keeps ballast and reflector together. Before buying, check which bulb, power cord, hanging parts and control cables are included. A controller or climate control system is not automatically part of the package. For a grow tent, consider frame load capacity and available clearance too.
Replacing a fixture or a component
Record the brand, exact model and bulb code first. If you only need a bulb or shade, explore separate HPS bulbs and HPS reflectors. A 315W CMH fixture uses different lamp technology and needs its own suitable bulb. For a different lighting approach, compare LED grow lights too.
Check bulb, mains supply and controller separately
A 400V bulb designation does not automatically specify the mains supply required by the complete fixture. Read the input voltage on the rating label and check the power cord, grounding and electrical load. Use total input power, including ballast losses, when calculating electricity use. The bulb’s nominal wattage alone is insufficient.
For the Gavita PRO 600 SE, establish the exact version: 600 SE and 600e SE are different model names. Select external controls only after identifying the fixture and its connection. With DimLux Expert and PRO, check generation, control connection and compatible controller as well. A shared brand name does not guarantee interchangeable cables.
