Which Atami soil suits your feeding routine?

Want to build up feeding yourself? Start with Janeco Lightmix. For a medium-fertilised blend of peat and coco fibres, compare Bi Grow Mix. Kilomix offers a richer nutrient starting point. Choose by pre-fertilisation and composition: these three bags contain the same volume.

Start with the nutrients already in the mix

Janeco Lightmix combines peat and perlite with light pre-fertilisation. It is a sensible option when you want to build up feeding yourself, such as when growing on rooted cuttings.

Bi Grow Mix is medium fertilised and contains peat, coco fibres and chips. It is a soil blend containing coco components rather than a pure coco growing medium.

Kilomix is more richly fertilised and includes worm castings, lime and guano. Account for those nutrients before adding liquid fertiliser. Richer pre-fertilisation does not mean you should automatically add more feed.

Adding feed: consider the plant and growing medium

Do not start every fresh bag with the same full feeding dose. The nutrients already present differ between mixes. Match your schedule to the soil you choose, your nutrient range and the plant’s development. Note when you repot and assess the plant before increasing the dose.

Using Atami or B’cuzz? Browse Atami / B’cuzz plant nutrients and read our guide to choosing and mixing a feeding schedule. A schedule for pure coco is not automatically the right starting point for Bi Grow Mix.

How many bags, and how much water?

Start with the volume your pots actually need. Four nominal 10 litre pots require about 40 litres when filled to their stated capacity. Allow for fill height, existing root balls and settling when ordering: 50 litres does not represent a fixed number of plants.

Use plant pots with drainage holes, keep the structure loose and check root-zone moisture. Water as needed. Pot size, the plant and growing conditions determine drying speed; one fixed watering interval cannot suit all three mixes.
