Uneven irrigation delivery: check your setup step by step

One pot gets little water while another stays wet? Check distribution in the installation first. Equal measuring times and a consistent inspection order help locate a change in delivery.

Measure before changing anything

Place collection cups under an outlet near the source, one at the end and a noticeably weak point. Run them together for the same time and record volumes. Compare equivalent outlets: different types may deliberately deliver different flows.

Check whether the problem affects one point or grows along the route. A longer running time supplies every working outlet for longer and will not remove a blockage. Read Drip irrigation: calculate and check water volume to calculate duration from measured delivery.

Check the source and water route

Check tank level, a clear inlet and pump position. Low water or a blocked inlet can affect supply. Compare the route with your Plan an irrigation setup: from tank to dripper: are hoses kinked, extra bends added or height differences changed?

Check for leaks and that valves are in their intended positions. Assess filtration and operating pressure with suitable measuring tools and the system instructions. Choose replacement Irrigation pumps only once required flow and pressure are known.

Inspect the weak outlet

Release pressure or disconnect power as the system requires before removing components. Check the hose, connection and outlet for dirt or damage. Clean or replace according to the product instructions; do not enlarge an opening to increase flow.

Required filtration is part of choosing Sprinklers & drippers. One cleaning chemical or fixed filter rating does not suit every type. If there is damage, missing documentation or uncertainty about water quality, discuss a suitable approach with us.

Retest after each change

Repeat measurement under the same conditions: equal measuring time, water level and equivalent outlets. This helps assess whether your action changed distribution. Record the changes and new volumes so later differences are easier to recognise.

If one pot behaves differently despite equal delivery, assess drainage, substrate and the plant. The problem may lie outside the irrigation system. Adjust running time only after delivery is stable; Manual or timed watering: which approach suits your setup? helps you assess that step.
