Choosing Platinum King LED: 720W ECO, Super King or 1000W PRO?
With Platinum King LED, 720W does not tell the whole story. Compare the three 720W models with King 1000W PRO and match the fixture, dimming controls and available space to your light plan.

Start with space and the distribution you need
Measure the internal dimensions of your growing space and work out how much height remains above the crop. Allow for the hangers, fixture and cables. Then assess the light distribution you need. The most powerful fixture is useful when you can position and control it appropriately.
We choose a Platinum King LED grow light by combining plant requirements, distribution and control. A fixed watts-per-square-metre rule cannot account for every difference between crops and setups.
Three distinct 720W models
The King Led 2.6 720W ECO, Super King 2.9 720W ECO and Super King 3.2 720W PRO share the 720W power class. Their series names distinguish the models. Compare the complete model designation and avoid transferring specifications from an older King to a Super King.
These overhead fixtures have six light bars and adjustable power. Beyond those shared features, assess distribution at your planned height, dimming controls and required connections. An efficacy figure describes conversion into light; it does not tell you how much light reaches the corners of your room.
When does King 1000W PRO fit?
The King 2.8 1000W PRO is an overhead fixture with ten light bars. This higher power class needs a light plan that makes use of the extra capacity. Check clearance, dimming options and heat removal before choosing it.
Assess lighting at several points at crop height. PPF is the fixture's total photon output. PPFD describes intensity at a particular point. Use suitable PPFD measurements or a light distribution map for the exact model, with height and dimming level recorded. A centre reading is not an average for the entire area.
Check the control chain
The overhead fixtures have an RJ14 control connection. Before connecting, check the signal, cable pinout and exact controller version. Connector shape alone does not confirm compatibility. Also decide how multiple lights should be controlled and whether their settings need to match.
A controller does not replace a suitable power supply. Disconnect power before changing connections and use cables intended for the exact model. When selecting, compare the available grow light controllers with the fixture you plan to use.
Calculate using actual input power
The formula is watts ÷ 1000 × hours = kWh. At an actual input of 720W, twelve hours uses 8.64 kWh; at 1000W, it uses 12 kWh. Multiply by your electricity tariff. These examples use those input powers and are not product measurements.
Measure the complete combination when dimming. Include ventilation and supplementary lighting separately. Then choose the model with sufficient control range for your plants. If lower plant areas need more light, read our Under Canopy 150W guide; that serves a different purpose from overhead lighting.
