Grip bag or aluminium heat-seal bag: choose the closure

Bag size and closure determine how you use packaging. Compare a resealable grip bag with an aluminium heat-seal bag and check the space needed for the contents and closure.

Decide how often you need access

Packaging you open regularly places different demands on the closure from a bag you want to heat seal. Start with the action, rather than the largest size. Should the contents remain visible? Do you want to identify batches quickly? Include these questions in the choice.

A grip bag for opening and closing again

M-Safe grip bags are transparent and made from LDPE. Sizes include 35 × 45 and 50 × 50 cm. The grip closure can be closed again after opening. Keep the closure free from residue and check that it is shut along its full width.

Do not treat a resealable edge as proof of a particular gas, odour or moisture barrier. Those properties need support for the exact packaging. Browse grip bags in packaging and storage and match the size to the intended contents.

Close a heat-seal bag using heat

Aluminium heat-seal bags come in 30 × 40, 45 × 56, 56 × 91 and 91 × 130 cm. Close them using heat, for example with a suitable sealer. Check the usable sealing width, bag instructions and device settings. The range also includes a hand sealer for heat-seal bags.

A sealer appearing in the category does not prove that every bag size fits in one movement. Keep the closing edge flat and clean, and assess the closure of your chosen combination first. Opening and resealing needs enough material remaining at the top.

Nominal size is not a fixed filling capacity

The stated size describes the bag. Usable space also depends on the shape and volume of the contents and on the closing edge. Do not convert bag dimensions directly into kilograms. Choose a size that avoids unnecessary compression and leaves room to close it carefully.

Packaging follows suitable preparation

Closed packaging does not make material drier. For dry storage, complete the drying stage in a way suited to the plant. Keep batches clearly separate and check the intended storage conditions. Our harvest workspace checklist helps you plan preparation and packaging as separate stages.
