MDF acoustic box fans

An MDF acoustic box fan extracts air using a fan inside a wooden enclosure. Our Torin range includes fixed and suspended motor versions. Start with the airflow you need and your duct layout, then compare the motor mounting. We help you match the extractor, carbon filter and controller.

Extraction with a carbon filter

Need to extract air and filter odours? Choose your box fan and carbon filter as one airflow system. The fan moves air; the filter handles odour filtration. Check connection sizes and the filter’s operating range. A larger model designation does not make an unsuitable filter a good match.

Replacing an existing extractor

Before ordering, note your duct diameter, available installation space and control method. Check duct length and bends too. A replacement box fan needs to suit the whole system. Use suitable flanges and fittings and support the ducting separately.

How to choose an MDF acoustic box fan

Start with the model class. The range includes models with 500 to 7000 in their names. Treat that as a starting point: a filter, long duct run and bends add resistance. Actual airflow in your installation may therefore be lower. Floor area alone is not enough to select a box fan.

Then compare the motor mounting. MDF describes the enclosure, not the way the motor is mounted. The Torin MDF 1500 with fixed motor and MDF 1500 with suspended motor share the same model class. In the suspended version, the motor hangs inside the enclosure. This helps limit motor vibration transfer, but does not eliminate airflow noise in ducts and bends.

Check connections and control. Do not infer duct diameter, current draw or controller compatibility from the housing material or model name. Match your climate controller to the electrical specifications and permitted control method of the chosen model.
