Using ONA gel: placement and odour control
Where should you put ONA gel, and what should you check when odours keep returning? Follow these steps to match placement and use to your space while keeping extraction and carbon filtration in their proper role.

1. Identify the source of the odour
Do you notice odours around a door, at an exhaust outlet or in the room next to your grow tent? Note the location and timing. A persistent source needs a different response from odours released only when the tent opens. Start by checking connections and the route of extracted air.
Odour neutralising gels supplement odour control in the surrounding area. They do not correct inadequate air exchange. If air constantly escapes, check extraction, connections and your carbon filter first.
2. Choose a location and check airflow
Stand the jar on a stable, accessible surface outside the immediate growing area. Check where air comes from and where it goes. Choose a position where supplementary odour control is needed, without directing fragranced air straight towards plants or harvested material.
A circulation fan distributes air within a space. Extraction removes air from it. Keep these functions separate when choosing a location. Our guide to positioning a fan in a grow tent helps you assess air distribution.
3. Use the correct product format
ONA Fresh Linen Gel 3 litre is the gel sold in this category. Its stated volume is 3 L and its fragrance is Fresh Linen. A block, spray or refill liquid is a different product format. Follow the directions on your own packaging.
To use the gel, open the jar and place it in position. Assess the result there before changing its placement or distribution. Keep the jar accessible and avoid knocking it over.
4. Check the contents and the result
Regularly check how much gel remains and whether the unwanted odour decreases. If the odour returns, check both the jar and the original source. Adding more gel does not replace fixing air leaks or correcting a filter that does not suit the air path.
Do not judge suitability by a fixed number of weeks or square metres. Volume tells you how much product you buy; it does not guarantee service life or coverage. Follow the packaging instructions for refilling rather than mixing your own recipe.
5. Choose gel or spray for the task
Gel suits a fixed location where you want a product to release continuously. An odour neutralising spray offers targeted use at a chosen moment. Fresh Linen adds its own fragrance, so consider your scent preference too.
