Dutch Pro feeding chart: medium, water and mixing A&B

A suitable Dutch Pro chart starts with three choices: growing medium, water type and plant stage. We explain how to record those choices, measure A and B and check your nutrient solution.

Dutch Pro Soil Grow A and B, Take Root and Explode

Choose the chart that matches your bottles

Before mixing, write down your medium, the water formulation shown on the A&B pack and your plants’ stage. Soil is for potting soil; Hydro/Coco is for coco and hydro. Each line has separate Grow and Bloom base feeds. Copy those names onto your mixing notes so you are not relying only on bottle colour.

Check the label for hard water or RO/soft water. Do not choose a formulation just from where you live. Use the water information you actually have and get an unclear pack checked before selecting its chart.

Scale ml per litre to your reservoir

Calculate with the litres you are actually preparing, rather than the reservoir’s maximum capacity. Multiply the stated dose per litre by that water volume. Do this separately for each product. For A&B, keep two lines in your notes: one for A and one for B, with equal quantities.

A calculation example, not a dosage recommendation: if your matching chart specifies 2 ml per litre of each component and you prepare 10 litres, measure 20 ml A and 20 ml B. That is 40 ml of concentrate in total. A dose per component is not a quantity to divide between A and B.

Add A and B to water separately

Fill your clean reservoir with the measured volume of water. Within the A&B pair, add A first, mix thoroughly, then add B. Mix again. Do not combine undiluted A and B in a measuring jug or storage bottle: keeping the concentrates separate prevents reactions.

Using other additives too? Check the full mixing sequence in your chart and on the exact labels. The order within the A&B pair is not a general instruction to add every other product after B.

Give each addition a clear purpose

Take Root is for root support, Multi Total for nutrient uptake and Explode for the flowering stage. They do not replace the base feed. Record the period and dose for each addition rather than putting every bottle on every mixing list.

Before adding calcium or magnesium, check your water and base programme. Leaf Green is a foliar feed; do not treat that application as a standard reservoir addition. Concentrated bloom powders have their own instructions. Do not copy a liquid booster’s dose for them.

Check the result and keep your notes

Measure EC and pH in the complete solution after mixing your chosen products. EC gives information about dissolved salt concentration; pH helps you assess acidity. Compare with the appropriate chart for your stage and medium. There is no single target for every plant and system.

Record the date, water volume, products, doses and final readings. If plant response or watering changes, check preparation and the system first. Change one targeted step at a time so you can understand the adjustment. Adding concentrate without checking makes a problem harder to assess.
