Choosing plant nutrients for soil, coco or hydro

A suitable feeding programme starts with your growing medium. Learn which decisions to make before buying your first bottle and how to choose a clear nutrient line for soil, coco or hydro.

Plagron Terra Grow, Canna Coco A&B and BioBizz Bio·Grow

Record your starting point

Write down your medium, its existing fertilisation, how you irrigate and whether you reuse the nutrient solution. Add your water source and growth stage. This helps you avoid choosing a schedule intended for a different system.

Prefertilised potting soil does not necessarily need the same feed from day one as a nutrient-poor medium. The starting point depends on both the substrate and nutrient line.

Soil: choose a Terra programme

Canna Terra Vega is a growth feed; Terra Flores is used during flowering. Plagron Terra Grow and Terra Bloom have these stage-specific roles too. Choose a line and follow its matching schedule.

An organic approach with BioBizz has its own programme. Bio·Grow and Bio·Bloom are combined according to the schedule for your exact medium. The transition from growth to flowering does not work identically in every line.

Coco: check the complete nutrient line

Canna Coco A&B is designed for coco throughout growth and flowering. Both components remain the base together: A is not a growth bottle and B is not a flowering bottle. The dose changes with the programme and plant development.

Choose a coco feed for its application in coco. Do not transfer a Terra schedule simply because the bottles have a similar size or price.

Hydro: consider the system and water

For hydro, check whether the line suits your irrigation method and whether the solution recirculates. Some lines also have separate hard-water and soft-water formulations. Record exact product names and water formulation in your mixing notes.

Then check dose, mixing order and target measurements. Avoid applying one fixed pH or EC target to every brand, medium and growth stage.

Keep your choice manageable

Start with one base line before choosing targeted supplements. Record the function, timing and dose of each product. Adding a booster is not a reason to add a second complete base programme.
