Circulation or extraction: which airflow does your grow room need?

A fan inside the room and an extractor do different jobs. Choose the function you need before comparing models and airflow ratings.

Inline fan and wall fan for different airflow tasks

Separate movement from air exchange

A circulation fan moves air inside the room. It can move air around plants and into sheltered corners, but does not create an outlet. Air exchange requires an extractor with an outgoing route and a path for replacement air.

Start with the task: distribute air inside the room, remove air, or both? A larger circulation fan does not automatically provide more fresh-air exchange.

Choose circulation by mounting and reach

The Ralight wall fans in our range need a suitable load-bearing fixing. Check weight, the mounting bracket and clearance around the fan. Tent fabric is not a mounting point for a wall fan.

Direct airflow where it can reach the room without immediately hitting an obstacle. Assess several positions. A strong stream in one place can coexist with stagnant air elsewhere.

Plan incoming air alongside extraction

Inline fans and acoustic box fans extract air through ducting. That air must be replaced. A blocked inlet restricts the setup even when the fan runs at a high setting.

Include lighting heat, the filter, duct length and bends when choosing. The fan curve helps assess airflow against resistance. Tent dimensions alone are not a capacity specification.

Give the carbon filter its own role

A carbon filter treats air flowing through its carbon bed. It does not replace an extractor. Check the recommended airflow, flange diameter and mounting space for the exact model. Keep the filter and pre-filter accessible.

Check each function separately

After installation, check that circulation reaches the intended areas and that incoming and outgoing paths stay clear. Record temperature and humidity in a representative place. Change one setting at a time so you can assess which part affects the result.
